Secret Crush

July 27, 2010

I thought I would start the morning off with a little confession. Chairs. I love them. I get really attached to them.

It’s like seeing a sad puppy at a shelter, your heart strings are tugged at and you give in.

I mean, that poor chair will be so lonely if no one buys it, right?

I just sold my favs to a friend in town. I was sad to see them go, but I had to.

I scored a couch at Salvation Army a few weeks back. It was a shocking clash with the color of my chairs.

They have a new home, and I am on the hunt for replacements. I have had no luck. My poor kitchen table is naked and needs some chairs.

I have been looking at stores here in town, and online. I love a lot online, but they are just too expensive.

I guess when you find crazy good deals, it’s hard to spend full price online. I’m cheap.

Here are a few that I love:

The Louis Ghost chairs are super trendy right now, but I still love them.

This pink beauty hurts my heart. I am strictly forbidden to buy pink chairs (husband).

More to come, but here is a peek.  Aren’t they a beautiful couple?

Erika and Clayton

July 26, 2010

Erika and Clayton are getting married in 2 weeks! I just love theses two (and not bc she is my sister in law).

They are a great couple and I could not think of a better guy to have as a brother in law!

Here is their engagement session:

Terra and Taylor

July 25, 2010

Terra and Taylor were married on a quaint lake in Arkansas. They had the reception is a rustic lodge, and had pies instead of cake.

I had a wonderful time photographing their beautiful day. They are a great couple with lots of love.

Vintage goodness

July 23, 2010

My mom and I were talking today about how the 1950′s were great. I didn’t live in that decade, but I can see what came from that decade.

I appreciate the design, color and idea behind things made or inspired by the 50′s.

My mom said things were just “pure” back then. I think that word can play out in so many different areas.

Pure color, pure design, and maybe pure living (Mad Men will say otherwise).

I love mid-century furniture, but I also love mid-century toys. The toys left an element of imagination for the kids.

Today, toys buzz, beep, flash, sing and talk. It’s sensory overload! Other people will argue that they teach kids words, shapes, and colors.

But I would rather have that role than a singing toy.

I’m not saying all toys made today are bad, there are SO many great new toy companies out there that make beautiful.

I can tell a difference in Hazel’s attitude when she gets done

playing with a plastic signing thing or simple blocks. When she plays with blocks, she is subdued and she entertains herself.

Give her a flashy plastic thing, and she’s done after she’s figured it out (about 30 seconds).

The good thing about vintage toys is that you are reusing them, and I can pass them down to the rest of my kids someday. Plus, they last forever!

I am somewhat of a germophobe, so I also thoroughly disinfect after we find a treasure at a thrift store.

So behind…

July 22, 2010

My oh my, we have been busy. Where is summer going? I’ve had weddings nearly every weekend, and lots of sessions in between.

Keeping up with baby, husband, house, and creativity is hard.

Last weekend, my brother got married in Pennsylvania. I will blog about it soon.

My brother’s fiance is from PA, so we spent lots of time with her family. We love them!

The wedding was beautiful and I am beyond excited to FINALLY have a sister.

I couldn’t  have asked for a sweeter/beautiful person for my brother to marry.

She is also moving to Springfield after the honeymoon, so that means a new friend for me!

Hazel is getting so big. She is 18 months old now. She is such a sweet little person.

We have really enjoyed watching her personality grow. Hazel loves trucks, balls, coloring and babies.

A very well rounded girl, if I do say so.

Here she is with her papa at our fav restaurant, Grad School. I could eat there for every meal, but I better not.

Excuse the quality, it’s from the Iphone.

Here she is again:

I feel like I’ve been too busy to make anything or be creative in any way.

I cannot wait to get back into the swing of things, once wedding season slows down a bit.

I saw this cute pram online the other day, isn’t it sweet?

Also, isn’t this chair from Target amazing? In love.

Whitney and JC are on of the sweetest couples. They were so loving and easy to photograph!

I haven’t blogged in FOREVER! I am back now. I have been super busy with weddings and e-sessions! Here is a sweet couple:

I just love these two. They are creative and beautiful!

I was really excited to take Benji and Christine’s pictures. I grew up with Benji and he moved to New Zealand a long time ago to be a MK (missionary’s kid).

He met Christine over there and now they are getting married! Congrats you guys!
