It snowed…again!

January 29, 2010

I hope everyone had wonderful week! Mine was busy busy, and it ended with a big snow. I love how snow slows everyone down. I also love driving while it snows. The look of neighborhoods with smoke coming from the chimneys, and light coming through the windows makes me love winter. The weather channel said we would get it all the snow last night. I woke up at 5am to look at the window…nothing but a slight dusting. The snow started later in the day. I even canceled a photo session thinking the storm was coming :( Oh, well…that is Springfield weather for you. Did you know Springfield is known for it’s unpredictable weather? This is from Wikipedia: “According to Forbes magazine’s list of ‘America’s Wildest Weather Cities’ and the Weather Variety Index, Springfield is the city with the most varied weather in the United States.” I know I am a nerd for knowing this. What can I say, I love Wikipedia. I am behind on taking pictures this week, BUT I did snap one of my favorite thrift store finds of the week. A brag book for my mom. She is always asking me for pictures of Hazel. So here you go mom. I will fill it with vintage inspired pictures. I also found these knit baby pants.

Since I don’t have my own pictures to blog about, I wanted to show you some of my favorites from Annie Leibovitz. She has always been a favorite of mine. She can freeze a moment and make any person look like a greek god. I mean seriously… the lighting, wind blowing, skin tone and facial expression. Amazing. I love all of her photos, but I think my current fav is her series she did for Disney. Here are a few:

And this editorial shot for The Wizard of Oz. It’s AMAZING.

But I also love the photos she did on the set of Marie Antoinette (my fav movie).

Ok, that’s all for now. Well, one last thing. Here is a picture of Hazel one year ago. She was so squishy and cute.

Head on over to Elsie Flannigan’s blog. I was one of the guest bloggers today for her blog party. Thanks, Elsie!

Birthday Girl*

January 24, 2010

Out little Hazel turned 1 today, and we had a little family party. My husband and I were reminiscing what happened a year ago today. The birth of Hazel was hard, but so memorable. I labored all night and as you know, they usually don’t let you eat anything. After I had Hazel the next morning, my husband ordered me a big serving of chocolate chip pancakes. I don’t think I ever tasted anything so good. I told him today I want to have another baby just so I can have those pancakes again! My husband made his yummy chili, and my mom made the CUTEST ice cream cone cupcakes. We had a wonderful time celebrating Hazel’s life.

and here is Hazel with her Grandpa

January 21, 2010

This week has been a quiet one. I love being productive and spending time with my little family. Yesterday was so warm for January. We opened all of our windows and went swinging at the park. It was a perfect day. I also went thrift store shopping while my husband watched Hazel. I found lots of good things. I love good deals. Well, Sunday is Hazel’s first birthday. I am so excited to celebrate.  I HAVE to do some 1 year old pictures for her. I am way behind. We decided to give her one of her presents early. It is a little dollhouse, and she loves it.

I’ve always wanted to do a “what’s in your purse” picture. I am about 3 years late, but here it is:

1. Bag from here

2. Cheap sunglasses

3. My bible

4. Coin purse from here

5. Lip gloss & perfume

6. Baby Mum Mum (keeps baby quiet when we go out).

7. Toy for a cranky baby, found here.

8. Canon snap and shoot

9. Wallet from my mom, I’m not sure where it’s from.

10. Extra cap for hazel, in case she gets cold. Found here.

11. Diaper changing pod, found here.

12. Compact mirror from here.

So, there it is! I finally did it! I am excited to photograph a baby shower on Saturday,  designed by Sharon. I will share pictures as soon as I am finished!

Baby Jaycee Stella was 8 days old when we took these pictures. She was THE best baby. Her mom, Whitney was so pretty and put together for having a baby 8 days ago! I need to take tips from her for my next baby. I had a good time with this little family. Whitney and Evan were very sweet to each other and I can already tell they will be the best parents. I hope you both like the pictures….congratulations on your sweet little girl!

A long post

January 10, 2010

Hope everyone had a good weekend! Lots to share and post. I was able to take some pictures for a great clothing company.  It was really cold when we took the pictures, but we had lots of fun. Thanks to Mick, Jay, Nick and Will for helping out!

I know Christmas is over, but my cousin just took down her tree and I had to snap a picture before she did. Isn’t her tree/house cute? It is sad to take down Christmas decorations, but fun to rearrange the house and give it a fresh look.

Next, I found this amazing sofa at Thrift Haven (the best thrift store in town). I wasn’t able to get it because we just didn’t have the room for it.

Anyway, I was so happy to hear that it went to a good home. Sharon bought it and it looks so pretty in her house. Don’t you think?

Hazel’s brithday is coming up. I am excited to get some friends together and throw a little party. Even though it’s not her birthday yet, she received gifts this week from some of my sweet friends.

Natosha gave her  the CUTEST Tom’s:

and Kendra made her this doll:

Kendra has an Etsy shop with darling things. She makes baby slings too (I won’t use any other sling). They are my favorite! Check her out here. Hazel loves her doll….thanks Kendra!

Excited about this week. I took pictures of a brand new baby. She was soooo sweet. Will post pictures when I am done. Have a good week!

New Fav…..

January 10, 2010

I have lots to blog about today, but I wanted to share this movie. I saw it last night at the Moxie. I think it may be one of my new favorite movies. It was a sweet love story, that didn’t have a trashy Hollywood twist. Move over Pride and Prejudice! AND the music was really good. I really like Emily Blunt after watching this. I think I may have to see it a few more times.

Just a really quick post. This family is so sweet. I took their daughter’s pictures the same day, but I haven’t posted their family pictures yet.  Jay &  Sarah are a great couple that my husband and I love hanging out with. Jay was a drummer for one of my husband’s favorite local bands back in the day. His wife Sarah was actually my student teacher in high school, and I met her again years later.  Funny how that happens. They are great people.

Our little town has been covered in snow. It is simply beautiful, but very cold. It is the kind of cold that hurts your face. I have to sprint to get the mail! I have been inside with my little Hazel this week. We have been very productive. I will show you a little project I did the other day. I found a DISGUSTING chair on craigslist in the free section. It was on the side of the road in a bad part of town. Anyway, I put the address in the GPS and went on a hunt. I found the chair, and thought it was too gross to put in my car….but I did.  The metal was a rusty brown color. I painted it black and cover the cushions with some houndstooth. I have been wanting a chair like this for a long time, but they were all so expensive. This will do. I think I will put it in Hazel’s room, since it is a rocker.

I REALLY wanted to save the leather and have it cleaned, but it was too worn. Here is the finished product:

Just another recap…

January 6, 2010

A couple of days ago, I posted a recap in pictures of my little baby. I thought I would post a recap in pictures of my husband. He is the sweetest guy. I am so thankful for a great year with him.  2009 was a year full of excitement and raising our baby. Having a baby changes your marriage in a good way. We have loved this past year so much. I think our New Year’s resolution is to go on more vacations this year.

He is the BEST dad. Hazel loves him to pieces, and I don’t  blame her.
